About Moco
Welcome to Moco Museum, also known as the Modern Contemporary Museum. With locations in Amsterdam, Barcelona, and London, Moco exhibits art to inspire new ways of thinking, telling the fascinating stories of art from modern masters and contemporary stars. Located in the heart of Amsterdam on the well-known Museumplein or Museum Square, Moco stands among renowned cultural institutions such as the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, forming the city’s centre for arts and culture.
Our collection is housed in Villa Alsberg, a building designed by Eduard Cuypers in 1904, nephew of the famous architect Pierre Cuypers, who designed the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station. As a designated Rijksmonument, or national heritage site, Villa Alsberg and its ornate stonework, wood carvings, stained glass windows and unique architectural features offer a unique contrast to the modern and contemporary art within. Once the first residential townhouse on Museumplein, Villa Alsberg now opens its doors to all as Moco Museum, inviting everyone to experience the inspirational power of art.
