About Moco

Palau Cervelló

Welcome to Moco Museum, short for Modern and Contemporary Museum. With locations in Amsterdam, Barcelona, and London, Moco exhibits art to inspire new ways of thinking, telling the fascinating stories of art from modern masters and contemporary stars.

Located in the vibrant heart of El Born, a lively district full of cultural wonders, Moco Barcelona is set on Carrer de Montcada, a street renowned for its mediaeval and Renaissance palaces. The museum is housed within one of these architectural gems, Palau Cervelló, a historical palace that stands out for its evolution spanning from the 14th to 18th centuries. As you enter Palau Cervelló, you will be greeted by its charming interior courtyard, a welcoming space for visitors who have travelled near and far. The palace’s architecture embraces Gothic and Renaissance elements from earlier constructions, including a grand staircase with flying buttresses, a feature of the mediaeval structure’s reform.

Originally the residence of the noble Cervelló family, the building was later owned by the Giudice lineage, prominent Genoese merchants in the 17th century. Now with the utmost respect, Moco Museum takes over the space of Palau Cervelló to restore and safeguard this historic institution to welcome everyone.
